Reviews around entry (5.00 of 5)

  • This is available to Costco for $199 as of 3/6/2018Great affordable entry level VR set!
  • If this was the launch price and they included cheap detachable headphones with this device it would be the perfect VR entry headset.

Reviews around set (5.00 of 5)

  • I already had a good set of headphones, so it worked out well.
  • I quickly converted them to run on rechargeable AA batteries, so that I always have a spare set ready to go
  • Great set-up, easier to run than the Oculus or Vive, and works well on most every platform

Reviews around purchase (5.00 of 5)

  • I've had this VR system for about a week now, and I have to say this is my new favorite purchase
  • I definitely enjoy this purchase, and I'm glad that this was my first dive into virtual reality
  • Blessing as you don't have to setup little tracking stations around your room, but a curse when the headset cannot see the controllers
  • For the price and how well it works, i do not regret this purchase what so ever, i do have to say that i am fortunate that my IPD is average so i have no issues with vision, and it's very comfortable

Reviews around setup (5.00 of 5)

  • WAY easier setup then the Oculus, and have never had to re-run setup unlike the oculus either
  • Definitely worth the price, provides good VR experience and setup is brain dead-easy

Reviews around desktop (5.00 of 5)

  • : during use the headset is a mostly seamless experience, with a few points decucted for controller tracking issues caused by design and sometimes battery voltage drops, and comfort is top notch without sacrificing headset compatibility, providing the most portable desktop VR experience of the lot yet not losing out on too much, even managing to pack on a few things the other headsets don't offer, such as the Splinter Cell style flip-up visor and increased resolution.
  • i have a gtx 950m laptop (desktop 770 equalivant) can run basic games, the virtual desktop is totally worth it on its own
  • I also love Virtual Desktop because it allows me to watch Netflix or Twitch in what feels like my own personal IMAX Theatre

Reviews around notch (5.00 of 5)

  • Moving on to the controllers, the comfort of them, and the extra versatility of the button design is top notch
  • Display quality is top notch, with little screen-dooring after you adjust to it
  • : during use the headset is a mostly seamless experience, with a few points decucted for controller tracking issues caused by design and sometimes battery voltage drops, and comfort is top notch without sacrificing headset compatibility, providing the most portable desktop VR experience of the lot yet not losing out on too much, even managing to pack on a few things the other headsets don't offer, such as the Splinter Cell style flip-up visor and increased resolution.
  • The comfort is among the top notch I've experienced, more comfortable than the VIVE softstrap and in line with the Rift velcro-retention strap

Reviews around price (4.55 of 5)

  • The reason I picked it up was it was being sold at a fantastic price and it works well with glasses.
  • Definitely worth the price, provides good VR experience and setup is brain dead-easy
  • For the price, absolutely no complaints
  • Overall a fantastic headset for a brilliant price, I got it for roughly $440nzd and it sells for $799nzd here at the retail stores
  • Great price point and quality construction make this headset well worth it ($279)

Reviews around resolution (4.26 of 5)

  • Its resolution is superior to the vive and occulus, however it uses LCD screens instead of LED
  • Comfortable head unit, and good resolution on the images
  • However, because it has better resolution make sure you have a system that can handle it
  • The resolution is noticeably better than the oculus rift and at a lower price it is unbeatable
  • The resolution of the display is higher than other vr googles but the poor optics of the lenses completely negates the benefits and you can expect a lot of blurry visuals

Reviews around game (4.13 of 5)

  • FPS are amazing and even silly sports games become fun because you feel like you in the game.
  • Just like Vive can use Oculus games through workarounds, the same workarounds allow WMR headsets to work.
  • It's the fact that you have to have the windows mixed reality program open as well as steams mixed reality support is still in beta and not many games on steam support mixed reality yet
  • Controllers are compatible with both Rift and Vive games (Rift games need reVive, but Robo Recall can still use the joysticks)- Also, controllers are included
  • In fact, my Surface Pro 2017 with Core i7 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage is sufficient for some great games like Space Pirate Trainer.

Reviews around vr (4.10 of 5)

  • If this was the launch price and they included cheap detachable headphones with this device it would be the perfect VR entry headset.
  • I play Elite Dangerous through mixed reality and steam VR without much of a problem
  • In comparison I have the Samsung Gear VR which does not have this problem and the difference is night and day.
  • well i got this vr because i couldn't afford the vive its good and has a great head tracking but the remote tracking is so shaky and the battery life doesn't last for so
  • So everyone who searching for cheap and enjoyable VR experience I will certainly recommend this thing.

Reviews around vive (3.86 of 5)

  • Obviously not as perfect as Vive in hand tracking, but you can play anything (Steamwise)
  • The tracking with the hands seem to jitter ever so slightly (hardly noticeable).Note: I got a Vive as well, and I wear glasses
  • Headset tracking using the cameras is easily as good as VIVE or Oculus, though sometimes, because it doesn't see everything when you set up, it will become disoriented and place you at the boundary wall
  • well i got this vr because i couldn't afford the vive its good and has a great head tracking but the remote tracking is so shaky and the battery life doesn't last for so
  • I like it overall better then the vive because the resolution is that much better despite the tracking issues below

Reviews around product (3.32 of 5)

  • Fix your awful product Microsoft and Lenovo, cause this is terrible
  • Great product, although I have a big nose and sunken eyes, lol
  • The combination of a flimsy product along with hopeless customer service makes this product a waste of money and time
  • After using this product for months now and going strong, I'm convinced that this is a terrific mixed reality product for the price
  • Lenovo makes good products but Microsoft really dropped the ball.

Reviews around track (2.46 of 5)

  • Only downside is you cannot have the controllers out of your view for too long, or else they will lose tracking
  • Blessing as you don't have to setup little tracking stations around your room, but a curse when the headset cannot see the controllers
  • Occasionally lose tracking of hand controllers but overall not bad.
  • The controllers would randomly lose tracking when moving at high speeds and would fly off into the distance or spaz out and the controller would fly all over the screen
  • the headset will lost racking and you will have to pull your arm back in to gain tracking again

Reviews around battery (2.09 of 5)

  • broken)- Controllers drain too much battery (I've using original Panasonic batteries)
  • Blessing as you don't have to setup little tracking stations around your room, but a curse when the headset cannot see the controllers
  • While the controllers seem to have a decent battery life, rechargeables are a really good idea
  • Controllers can drain batteries pretty quick if you do not properly turn them off
  • I get that AA batteries are a swap-it-and-keep-going sort of thing, but those batteries aren't cheap per pack, and lose voltage as they lose charge, especially the Alkaline ones

Reviews around software issue (1.69 of 5)

  • No problems other than some software issues
  • I had a download software issue that others also seem to get that took nearly 5 hours to resolve, with many people seemingly never fixing it which leaves the WMR unplayable
  • Blessing as you don't have to setup little tracking stations around your room, but a curse when the headset cannot see the controllers
  • The following issue might just be a software issue with Windows Mixed reality as a whole
