I'd go as far as to say that some scratch patterns are actually more precise when using the scratch switch, and the fact that it differs from a regular fader will encourage creativity as you work out how to use it

The tiny platter is reasonably stable and maintains its speed much better than expected
My only "wish" would be that Numark make a newer version of the PT01 Scratch with all the popular Upgrades/MODs (Non contact fader, Tone arm that accepts headshells, ultra pitch and lastly a solid platter)

Within an hour, I found that I could get the needle to stick in the groove well enough to accurately perform most of my basic cuts, and although the 'scratch switch' is no substitute for a real fader, once you get used to it, it's actually surprisingly slick and lets you pull off transforms and flares with ease
Of course, the samples near the edge of a 12 inch skip a lot more than the ones towards the middle, but I found that even the outermost grooves are still usable, as long as your record isn't warped
