It is a perfectly sensible and sturdy reading lectern which does not need an engineering degree to assemble.
The lectern is quite solid and stable but its portability could be better.
I am currently teaching my children how to do presentations and this lectern is great for that purpose.

you need a portable podium/pulpit, this should work well for you (although it's not going to "break down" like some portable items).

After assembling the unit and using it in our classroom at church by several individuals, we find the podium still wants to "wobble"
Its a decent podium for the price except that this podium is wobbly due to the way the company built it.
