I recommend this product to anyone interested in this type application.

Perhaps this is only a problem when you have somewhat heavy devices in the top portion

And, in fact, although it's new, it is exactly that: something that has to be tied together to make it work right!I'm guessing that if I took out the heaviest 2 devices in the top portion, which would leave in only a 1U (one space) device and a 2U device, it would hold in place

But then, you don't buy something like this only to use a mere 3 of the 10 spaces in the top portion!

I would never expect that top portion to be able to handle anything truly heavy, such as an amplifier or UPS (uninterruptable power supply)!!

And yet, no matter how much I torque down the two knobs as well as the 2 screws at the pivot point of the top slanted portion, it refuses to go down in its lower position (most slanted to the front direction), instead insisting on moving into a more flat position although not completely flat

if everything you need actually arrived in the box, then it would be an awesome deal, since the design is good, the rack is sturdy enough for a heavy reel-to-reel player and some serious studio gear.

But since these same shelves fit easily in any other rack, and are well-designed, I have to blame this rack under review here for making it very difficult to install things that should fit easily

I love the design of this rack, but it does have some problems

This rack gets some positive star power in my rating for: (1) sturdiness/strength that makes me confident mounting even heavy devices (at least in the bottom portion given problem #4 in the preceding paragraph), (2) casters that LOCK in place (2 of them do, which is what you'd want since you can't reach the rear ones easily; note that the diagram that's all you get to help you assemble this doesn't show the locking wheels, so YOU have to know to only install the wheels that lock in the front), (3) A nice, sleek look that after you put your gear in there, gets "out of the way," so you see your gear clearly without having to look at a bunch of a rack/stand, but that looks nice where you can see it (the only appearance change I'd like is to make the silver/chrome of the wheels black instead, at least the front or

This stand worked out great for me.

In sum, the "stars" lost in my review rating are due to: (1) holes requiring serious drilling to make the device possible to assemble (& some people might not even have a drill, or might not have strong enough metal bits), (2) a very minor "partial star" deduction for lack of assembly instructions that some people would need (but that aren't necessary if you're good with that kind of stuff), (3) mounting holes that won't allow me to use most of the rack-mount screws I have that work just fine in any other 19" rack/case I have, and (4) a tilting top portion that refuses to allow me to make it stay in place, at least when it's more top-heavy than bottom-heavy

The good thing is that the metal is very sturdy

I did test each of the screws that couldn't fit into this unit's top rails by screwing them into holes in at least two other racks or rack-cases, and in every case, the screws that could not be used with this rack/stand worked perfectly in every hole of every other rack I tested them with

Its a CHINA knock-off piece of junk because there is no warranty or instruction paperwork !

Should have been a solid piece with a tap instead of the insert.

So far, this problem has only become apparent on the rails of the top piece

It's definitely a problem with the holes in the rails of the top piece of THIS device being reviewed here

I actually found the single graphic image of the unit with each piece drawn slightly apart so you could see where each piece goes perfectly adequate to allow me to know how to assemble it

It's a cheap quality unit but it really does the job and will save you lots of money

if I begin with a 3-star rating ("okay" in word form) and add and subtract, it comes out with a bit more negative than positive

similar model might not have been a better buy overall (I think it might even be cheaper).One problem that slowed me down quite a bit and was very annoying was that both of the holes on one of the absolutely necessary connections (where one of the two columns that connect the base to the rest of the unit) were much too small to allow the included screws to fit

So if your device or devices you intend to install here go all the way up to the edges near the rails, be aware you might have to damage them a bit to get them into and out of place with this rack

Thus, the rails are a bit too close together, which will only be a problem if you try to install something that uses up all the space that a 19" rack/stand is supposed to allow
