Came on time.rods are the correct diameter and most likely straight

Consistent diameter when measured with micrometer but slightly undersize at 7.975, those last 25 microns are kind of important.

Diameter uniform and precise down to 0.01 mm.

The key to getting consistent results is to have a follower that rides on top of the rod so that minor xy position error does not affect the dial indicator reading.

Good stock rods are typically <0.05mm out of round.
