Reviews around play (5.00 of 5)

  • While they don't restrict open solo play, I prefer them as a section/soli reed
  • I feel very comfortable playing my sax with these reeds
  • People saying those were better and all of the reeds played out of the box are simply over exaggerating the truth
  • Just like any set of reeds, there not all perfect sounding, but I can usually coerce them into playing well with a bit of sandpaper

Reviews around sound (4.40 of 5)

  • Giving you versatility when needing both a bright and a dark sound.
  • This reeds gets a great Getz type sound with a long faced metal MP like a Ottolink 7*. 3's wear too fast, so 4 is better....
  • Just like any set of reeds, there not all perfect sounding, but I can usually coerce them into playing well with a bit of sandpaper

Reviews around quality (2.94 of 5)

  • In a world of steadily deteriorating quality from Vandoren, these reeds are truly a godsend.
  • I don't think they just changed the name from Rico Select Jazz to D'Addario - they improved the quality.
  • Rico used to produce a phenomenal top quality reed called the Rico Jazz Select
  • Not consistent at all, poor cane quality - that being said, when you get a good one (perhaps 10%), they sound great.
  • All of the reeds were cut off-center and were unplayable, so I gave Rico (D'Addario) two stars for poor quality control.
