The create-a-pet doesn't allow for the kind of detail as the PC version so you can't make that trademark spot that you favorite pet has, but with a variety of coat patterns, you can probably make a reasonable substitution.
Also having pets is a bonus if you want them, but you don't have to have them either which is cool as I didn't really want any
