Thomastik Dominant 4/4 Cello String Set Medium Gauge
Dominant series cello strings are one of the most widely-used synthetic strings. A highly flexible, multi-strand nylon core makes these comparable in sound and feel to natural gut.

Needless to say, he put his old strings back
These strings are a little softer than the Pro Arte, but I like it, they also seem to keep their tune much better after the first few days of settling in.
But finding the just right C&G, that's a different story
So first of all I just want to say, there is no such perfect string setup for any given cello
