I recommend a beginner to learn how to play a recorder which is able to play chromatically in-tune.
I was looking foward to not having to transpose if I wanted to read music in the key of C, but all the bending I would have to do in order to actually be in tune with other instruments is so high that I might as well be transposing anyways
