    Yamaha YRS-23Y Soprano Recorder, Natural

    • This recorder is attractive and also has a pretty good tone considering it's plastic
    • As expected a perfect recorder that is well made and has great sound quality.

    • But mine is a little out of tune at F, and it sounds like F# when I play F. Other than that, it's a nice recorder.

    • To my ear, in comparison to more expensive Yamaha soprano recorders, and larger alto and tenor models, the low F on this one is just a tiny bit higher than it should be, another reason for the four stars, but hey, for the price!Before buying this model I asked a question here on Amazon about the colored translucent models, and was told by a consort player that these translucent ones are just as good as the ivory ones, and as I found, and say above, better than some

    • Cons, (which I only mention because I also bought a Yamaha YRS-302B Soprano Recorder, which cost about $15 more), this recorder, like all soprano recorders, tends to sound a bit like a whistle, while the the 30-series mentioned above, sounds slightly less like a whistle, more like an instrument
