I bought this for my Raspberry Pi 2, because even with a beefy power supply(mine's good for more than 4 amps), the Pi 2 can't pass enough juice through its USB ports to power an external hard drive

you certainly need to be aware that it is An unpowered piece if you are plugging multiple bus-powered USB devices (especially drives) into it as they will either return a message of insufficient power, or, in the case of some hard drives I've used, simply disconnect and spontaneously reconnect (not good, but then again, not the device's fault)
