I specifically stayed away from some cheaper no name wire because the reviews said it was not pure copper.

For the price it's decent but for an extra 5 to 10 bucks you can get pure oxygen free copper wire which is a lot better.

For the same amount of money, I could have had solid copper

No it's not solid copper but each strand is

it is thus equivalent to 20 gauge copper wire (and brittler than copper, hence more likely to break)

It is actually copper plated aluminum which means it isn't as good as pure copper wire, which you should probably buy instead because it is almost exactly the same price (Same gauge and everything)

Pure copper is a good conductor, but copper mixed with impure slag metals is not

Anyone who thinks you NEED 100% copper wire for your speakers is probably trying to sell you pure copper wire, or they are trying to justify the wasting of their own money on 100% copper wire and suggesting that you do the same

Just spend the extra 20$ for good oxygen free copper wire

Replace that cheap-o factory supplied wire with the good stuff; your ears will thank you!
