My electrician who has just done some rewiring and outlet replacement explained to me why some of the outlets on the Powermid may seem "tight" - modern, good quality outlets are being made "tamper proof", where you have to push the plug in with more force than used to be required.

The unit is compact, yet provides plenty of space to plug in six AC adapters, which tend to obstruct adjacent outlets on linear power strips

Thankfully I also ordered a second outlet of another brand name that worked well (which I plugged into the same wall outlet and it worked fine).
