I have an asus board that was one of the first boards to start using 3.0, so maybe it's just a compatibility issue

No compatibility issues to date (though I work with Linux machines are try very hard to deal with Windows or Mac boxes)

BUT they are 2.0, sometimes have compatibility issues with car USB ports (new 2014 Caddy XTS as an example), not easy to use on a regular basis and don't hold a candle to the feel/finish of this item

I/O errors and disconnects from the system.

First one started failing with first use (USB disconnect during sustained writes over a few minutes, i/o errors, etc) -- verified on two different computers.

It also works as a very fast USB 2.0 drive

and they are all good, but this guy is as good as it gets and for the money, a really good flash drive
