If you look underneath the bench though, you can see all the mechanical stuff and unfinished wood

It's a handsome bench, appears very solid, and is very nicely finished -- no sharp edges, ugly screw-ends or rough wood or leatherette edges showing on the underside.

The legs are solid wood with a black gloss finish

If the bench is being adjusted a lot then the bolts actually strip the wood very quickly and fall out and there's almost nothing you can do about it.

The storage compartment is finished beautifully, no bare unfinished wood like some I've seen
