I write my own code for Zwave and while it took a bit to muddle my way through the specific things that Aeon does (I am NOT a Zensys licensee) it wasn't that bad to get integrated, and having

They need to have a better way to upgrade their equipment

There is no easy way to turn them off

All signs point toward the UZB stick from Sigma Designs as the "right" way to go when setting up a Z-wave gateway - after all, Sigma Designs makes the chip used in all Z-wave gateways.

The online support and website are pretty sucky as of 2017.
