so usb powered drives work just as well as power cable drives

If you plug the external hard drive into the unit, even if it's powered off, it will turn the drive on and keep it on

Would rate higher if it would work with a hard drive over 2TB

Just know that it will NOT read a 2TB hard drive without first partitioning the drive

I found the hard drive was on even though the unit was off

I hooked it up to a self powered USB hub and connected 3 2 terabyte hard drives and it read all three at the same time

when I plugged my USB flash drive in, it not only went blank, it seemed to ruin the flash drive.

I put the 6Gig DVD file on SD, Hard drive, Flash drive to test it and it will not play on any of them

I really appreciate my purchase, it plays almost all that I have on my 2tb external hard drive
