Aside from obvious expandibility and power advantages, the greatest thing about the software solution is that I can unplug, and casually lounge on the sofa w/ the laptop, editing, tweaking, exporting, mastering, etc., WITHOUT being tied to the heavy controller

This thing is also good if you don't have room for the Renissance.

This thing is AWESOME

Make sure you load all the software before powering this thing on because it won't work otherwise
