I contacted akai customer service about a missing authentication number and he treated me like I was an idiot until he realized

Downloading software requires registering, which says serial number on the box is invalid

I noticed two things regarding the high number of Amazon reviewers that had a bad experience with the bundled software (like 25%).1

I was able to download mpc on my brand new hp laptop which is now half as fast since this download than I open the application and it will only run in demo mode because it says the serial number is incorrect, well how can that be when That is right on the bottoMaybe of the controller.

I downloaded the MPC essentials program off of the Akai website and the serial number they provided me was incorrect

Find the right registration number, under (blah blah blah) section, and type that in

My freaking serial number won't work on the mpc essentials software WHY!?

I entered the serial number of the product, but that number was rejected.

It's got a meager number of assignable controls, but as far as its functionality as a control surface it is justifiably sufficient

The portability is excellent and I still primarily use this controller for recording — even at home — instead of my larger and better M-Audio controllers
