The replacement I ordered (which took about two months to ship) has now developed a problem where it drops its connection and has to be repaired after a system restart about once every 2-3 weeks

It seems there is a max 2-year lifespan on these, which is a drag, but the replacement remotes work well

Should probably make the replacement remotes more than $5 cheaper than entirely new system

It's built on Bluetooth, not Infrared technology, so Amazon forces you to either 1) buy a genuine replacement remote from them or 2) buy a third party Infrared receiver to plug into the fire TV box so one can use it with a universal remote (with limited functionality).
