It has a really good sound for a starter Ukulele, and the included instructional materials had me playing songs the same day I got it.

But I actually play the Dolphin quite a lot and enjoy its sound

Makala dolphin has very pretty and cheery sound as ukes should, but the Alfred has very dull sound

It's not the highest quality, but for the price, they give you everything you need to learn and it has a decent sound.

I started with it, and a friend brought over his non-toy uke, and I was amazed at the better sound (his is not an expensive one, about $50).

While the instrument itself certainly isn't of high quality, it is more than adequate and has a good sound.

For the price you get quite a bit but its a little cheesy sounding and needs to be tuned

Honestly though, I've been able to get a good sound from this uke, and if you can get a decent sound from a low-end instrument, you're doing alright.

The ukulele has a nice sound to it, the tuners are geared which makes it easier to tune, and the book and video have helped him a great deal in the process of learning the basics.

We though it nice to have the extras, like the CDs, book, and bag, but found that when the sound of the instrument was lacking, it just wasn't much fun to play.

and he was amazed at it, music has been in my family for over a 100 years, his dad was a great guitarist we lost him 5 months ago, so i showed my grandson the Alfred and asked him if he could learn to play it, and of course he said yes, and to my shock he has made some very good sounds come out of it, like my grandpa told me its not the instrument you hold alone, its the instrument that holds it, i had not played much myself in last 25 years wrote a bit, got my sons started playing

It's pretty sturdy and the sound is good once tuned

What it means is that the frets are not right!First fault of dull sound is something I can live with, but playing an instrument that's out of tune is pure pain

The fretboard is messed up so even when the strings are perfectly in tune, when pressed down, the notes are always slightly sharp so all the chords sound like a disaster
