Alice: Madness Returns - Playstation 3

    • The weapons are at least interesting as well as the enemies.
    • Not a terribly difficult game to navigate but enemies can be challenging which is good
    • So basically you are just smashing buttons and being annoyed by glitches and camera angels while listening to a soundtrack not worthy of Alice, fighting off very annoying enemies and occasionally getting stuck on parts where its not clear where to go or what to do
    • Occasionally, the camera would pan in the midst of a move and make it extremely hard to figure out what way I was going, therefore the enemy would cut Alice.
    • The controls are overly simplistic, enemies are a bit boring, and the overall combat mechanics are generally poor
    • You can even fool larger enemies into shooting out the smaller ones, which is fun
    • It is a bit disturbing in that you're collecting your dead enemies teeth, but you get used to it pretty quickly
    • The enemies are fun to tackle and the array of weapons keeps things interesting
    • " Alice is unwittingly thrown back against nightmarish enemies with her trusty Vorpal Blade ("keen and swift," the Cheshire Cat purrs), a Pepper Grinder, and a couple of other surprises for you to discover.
    • It's not likely you will actually get the chance to use Hysteria since enemies do so much damage
    • Most enemies have specific weaknesses that, once found, render battles into an arbitrary process
    • Her primary weapon is a vorpal blade, but she can also use a pepper grinder to rapidly hit a target from afar, a teapot cannon to launch an area attack, a hobby horse that can be used for powerful strikes or breaking down fragile walls, an umbrella to reflect the enemies attack and a clockwork bomb that attracts enemies or can be used as counterweight for various puzzles
    • Each weapon is used to attack each enemy and they're all needed throughout
    • Her Vorpal blade was great for close range quick attacks, but could take longer to kill some enemies
    • I don't have much to complain about the game, only that in some levels I felt sometimes like there was not enough enemies to kill, and the camera during combat takes a little while to get used to....but besides that the game is pure pure fun
    • You will start with the Vorpal blade, but you will eventually get the pepper grinder (a gattling gun for long range), hobby horse (a club that breaks through enemy defense), a teapot cannon (projectile explodes and damages multiple enemies and breakable objects), and a white rabbit decoy doll (distracts enemies, destroy breakable objects, or used as a weight to solve puzzles).
    • For instance, the "Colossal Ruin" enemy must first have several of it's thrown fireballs reflected back at it with Alice's umbrella, then shot with the pepper grinder or teapot cannon and then dodged when it attacks with it's fire breath until it stops for a break, at which point it can be finished off with the vorpal blade or hobby horse
    • Gone are the nostalgic images of cute n' cuddly Alice in Wonderland characters, and here, we are introduced instead to a more twisted yet fresh and entertaining cast
