My old cord I use in the car to connect my phone to the stereo would have static when the end of the cord was moved.

I use this cord to plug my phone into a small desktop guitar amplifier/speaker system (Yamaha THR 10), and it has a nice solid feel and doesn't crackle or pop like some other inexpensive cords I've used

Apparently that was all it took to cause the cord to totally and permanently stop working, despite showing no external damage
