• Reviews around disc (2.18 of 5)

    AmazonBasics 4.7 GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle)

    • Not bad for cheap discs.
    • My view of these discs reflects the rest of the 5-star reviews on the site.. they work fine for me and out of 3 spindles i've yet to face a bad disc
    • I had a number of bad discs.
    • These discs are worthless
    • i've thrown away about 5 discs...and have burned about 7 discs
    • I have used these to burn many different files and have had almost no bad discs.
    • very good standard recording disc no glitches no bad disc
    • I've literally used hundreds of these for various storage from backing up files to music and movies and hardly ever have a bad disc out of the lot
    • The discs seem durable and there are no problems with manufacuturing with these discs.
    • These are every bit as good as discs you would pay twice as much for.
    • Most spindles of 50 or 100 that I have bought in the past have flat out given me about 1/2 to 3/4 of usable discs
    • Good, cheap discs.
    • There seems to be fewer "DEAD" discs in the spindle than other brands.
    • Good disc for the money
    • every disc worked great i like the way it was shipped would buy these DVDs again but the price keeps flip flopping but other than that i like them better than most name brands not one bad disc out of a hundred
    • These are good for what I paid for them I had about a dozen bad discs in the 100 I bought but the rest were
    • They work as well as the "name brand" discs
    • So far I have not had any bad discs and I am half way through the stack of 100
    • I've never experienced such a high number of bad discs before
    • If I am able to get those discs to burn a movie using a different dvd writer, the movie will play, then pixelate, then completely freeze, or the dvd cannot be read at all
    • So far, about 20 discs burned, and no coasters.
    • When buying bulk you're certain to come across a bad disc
    • Normal amount of defective discs for any brand
    • So you don't have to expect any of the foil chipping off like you do on some of the really cheap discs
    • (They are costly in time as well as costing 2X per usable disc)
    • but after 2 years the discs are not burning correctly anymore, coming out coasters
    • Would have one more star if it wasn't so easy to scratch and the few coasters/bad discs.
    • These discs are as reliable in recording as Sony DVD+R and Verbatim DVD+R.
    • Great discs and work just as needed.
    • Then burned some Staples branded 16x discs and they were smooth, quiet, and fast
    • I've lost a couple due to defective disc, but overall very happy with product
    • After cleaning my dvd recorder, it accepted and prepared all but one dvd (invalid disc failure
    • I bought the AmazonBasics when I needed more discs and to my surprise they work really well for my movies
    • Must have gotten a bad batch becuase these discs cause my DVD burners to vibrate very badly
    • i bought the amazon basics and burned some dvd's.every disc when i go to
    • i havnt had any problems or bad discs out of the whole pack.
    • Good discs with hardly ever a bad one
    • Not sure how they will hold up over time, but even expensive brand name discs have disappointed me in the past
    • Clearly these discs are failures
    • So far, all have burned fine and at the same rate as the TDK and Maxell discs I normally buy
    • Someone mentioned in another review that these discs seem a bit more flimsy that others, and from what I can tell, they may be
    • But for the price, those few defective discs don't really bother me, when I am using my tvo to record.
    • Maybe 1 or 2 discs have an error per spindle
    • I found that approximately two out of three discs were defective
    • These dvds work fine but the spindle was broken, so when I opened the pack, half the discs went everywhere and a handful were scratched up badly by the broken spindle
    • The DVDs have a good life to them as well, after a year the discs still work perfect as if I had burned the data onto them yesterday
    • I'm down to the last ten discs on the spindle and haven't had one problem burning any of them! Those who report multiple burning errors might be attempting to burn the discs at too high a speed - or have not enough RAM to allow for a smooth and uninterupted data stream
    • These work well halfway through and no bad disc so far
    • These discs are fine, except that they are not compatible with every disc burner
    • Used many discs already no problems
    • These disc are consistent in quality.
    • I've yet to find a defective disc and they record beautifully, the packaging is great, and, for the money, they're one heck of a value.
    • I had a (3) bad discs in one pack!
    • Thanks Amazon for good quality discs at an excellent price.
    • I have not had a single bad disc.
    • I'll update things once I've burned a few discs to make sure they work properly w/o errors.
    • They work just as well as the more expensive discs.
    • and I can only recall have 1-2 disc's being bad out of 300
    • The first spindle was perfect--no defective discs
    • This happened every time I used my Memorex burner, but I didn't want to waste discs trying to figure out the "perfect" parameters to make these discs work with that drive
    • 3.5 stars.------Update (April 2010): These discs have been working without any problems on my i7 iMac's internal Superdrive, using Snow Leopard 10.6.3 .
    • Solid discs, bought several times as needed, and highly recommend
    • These were the cheapest discs and have functioned as advertised
    • Work as well as more expensive disc's
    • Some of the cheaper discs (Staples, etc.) are thin and flimsier than the more expensive discs
    • I now own about a dozen unreliable discs and most of a full $20 spindle of discs that don't even make good coasters.
    • Never encountered a bad disc
    • The discs failed with a "could not calibrate laser" message.
    • Have only burned about 10 discs so far, but all have worked flawlessly.
    • The failure rate has now climbed to over 50%, as disc after disc is now no longer readable on any of the four PCs and laptops I've tried
    • but the time you spent recording and the disc is rejected.
    • i picked a disc from the bottom and it burned
    • I would recommend these discs to anyone who want profession and quality in a disc from
    • Burned discs have not had any problems.
    • These discs do not work
    • These discs are great
    • Every burn nets me a viable disc that I am happy to give to family and friends.
    • overall a good rating discs burn fine work as they should, but the packaging is horrible the inner spindle broke in the
    • several discs were flawed and the packaging was shoddy.
    • went through about a quarter of the spindle already and haven't had one bad disc.
    • Some disc's didn't work and why only 4 stars.
    • The first few discs (about a half a dozen) were ok, but after that they just vibrate and the burner on my MacBook makes a horrible grinding noise from the very thin, flimsy discs as they vibrate
    • I have burned several discs
    • I stick with the same brand name, expensive discs
    • haven't hit a "bad" disc yet.
    • I have to say these are the best DVD-R discs I've ever used.
    • I have used about 60 of these, with zero bad discs that I can recall
    • so far no bad disc will order these again when needed
    • The discs do seem bulkier than the Verbatim ones, but they still work fine
    • I got at least seven bad discs each time or more.
    • First 4 discs failed to work for me.
    • The disc burn well, clear picture
    • I loved these discs
    • A few times, dvd said disc error, but it turned out to be a recorder error.
    • I have burn five full discs of video so far and all of them work perfect
    • Solid performance with no dead discs so far.
    • These discs burned fine for me and probably represent a good value on that front
    • but I would expect Amazon to provide truth in advertising and either label these correctly as 4x discs or actually provide discs capable of 16x speeds!
    • Well think again worst quality disc's ever
    • From what I read that happens some times and it's not necessarily a bad disc
    • These discs are available in either DVD+ or DVD-, so be sure to choose what is compatible with your dive or recorder.
    • I try time and time again (just to test if it was a few bad discs) and none of them are readable in either PC (blank ... once I use the DVD recorder and finalize the recording they are readable, in the computer).
    • I have burn five full discs of video so far and all of them work perfect
    • These discs burned fine for me and probably represent a good value on that front
    • discs are good, need better container.
    • Good discs with hardly ever a bad one.
    • First 4 discs failed to work for me.
    • They are solid discs and who cares if they say amazon on them
    • The discs do seem bulkier than the Verbatim ones, but they still work fine
    • Only very rarely does one of the discs fail...much better odds than most other brands and great price.
    • very good price, discs burned excellently
    • The DVD+R discs are working great.
    • These discs are available in either DVD+ or DVD-, so be sure to choose what is compatible with your dive or recorder.
    • Great disc.
    • However, the other 3 sets have had several defective discs, about 5 defective for every good one
    • Out of all the spindles I only had one bad disc.
    • I LOVED THESE DISC!!!!
    • The only complaint I have, and it's minor, is that the disc itself looks rather ugly
    • I'm waiting on my second pack, having just finished off my first 100 and NOT A SINGLE BAD DISC in the bunch
    • Get a disc failure message more often than not
    • I have a multi-disc burner that burns at 16x for large batches (50-80 usually) and the failure rate with these is 1-2 for every batch which is much better than my experience with other brands.
    • I have never had bad luck with the TDKs (dying burners, and one power outage not with-standing... not the disc's fault).
    • These disc are reliable
    • I highly recommend these Amazon Basics discs
    • what disc.. i usually burn at 4x and am perfectly fine.. this is an awesome deal 100 for about $20
    • I was burning some full discs of family videos when I started noticing issues.
    • Before these I have used Memorex, Sony and TDK discs and can only think of 2 bad discs out of over the 1000 I have used
    • Therefore I recommend these dvd disc for others to purchase
    • I'll upload a photo of a failed disc to illustrate what I'm talking about
    • Good quality discs.
    • Have only burned about 10 discs so far, but all have worked flawlessly.
    • Work as well as more expensive disc's
    • Very good discs no problem.
    • The disc work great but the print on the front is so bold that you can see it through stick on labels.
    • The case alone holding the discs is worth the money!!
    • I love these DVDs and have ner had a bad disc
    • The discs are just like any other disc in this price range, they're purple/blue bottom with minimal printing of Amazon's logo and a place to write your disc contents on the non-data side
    • No disc read error
    • I was excited to see this disc would hold 350 photos...and then quickly disappointed that it wouldn't even hold 100 images when I tried burning my first disc
    • They work just as well as the more expensive discs.
    • You can't get those anymore, but the discs are great and one of my favorites
    • After burning over 300 DVD's I have only found a couple of bad discs (literally only 2 bad discs).Any other problems that I encountered were mainly software related (Nero
    • Disc Design: A nice blank top for
    • I've gotten several 100-pack spindles now and can count the number of bad discs on one hands
    • I then tried it in my Gateway PC, it did burn the disc but could not read the same disc it wrote
    • Awful Dvd discs, tried 4-5 Disks they would not burn, first thing when you open the package says may need firmware update and to go to the manufacturer of your computers website to download the updates if you need it.
    • These discs also seem to scratch easier than some of their more expensive counterparts
    • They're great quality DVD+R discs.
    • From the 3 orders of these DVDs, only one disc didn't work
    • Great disc only got 2 bad ones out of 100

    • I’m only 1/3 thru the spindle and 6 or 7 discs were bad so far.
    • All in all, the picture quality is as good as any of the more expensive discs.
    • The DVDs have a good life to them as well, after a year the discs still work perfect as if I had burned the data onto them yesterday
    • I don’t trust digital drives, so make discs on
    • These are very good discs
    • These Amazon.com Basic disc are as good as any other higher priced disc I have used but a heck of a lot less expensive
    • Not one disc has failed during burn.
    • You end up spending the same amount of money per disc when you have to throw away 2 disc and waste your time.
    • No problem reading off these discs in that drive
    • Sometimes the discs in other ones were not clear, did not copy over all of the movie or documentary or was not able to be duplicated on
    • The discs work as they should probably 95% of the time
    • The manual for my Philips Hard Disc Drive Recorder lists only 5 brands that my recorder is guaranteed to record.
    • Theres no reason to pay for more expensive discs when these works as good if not better.
    • One batch failed 90% of the time (stopped prematurely, error message, dirty disc message etc.) , so I sent them back and the 100 batch was replaced with a new batch that's perfect, just like the prior ones, and no charge for shipping back.
    • But for the price, those few defective discs don't really bother me, when I am using my tvo to record.
    • These discs don't work
    • These discs burned without any problems, went through more than 80 without any coasters
    • I wanted to like these "generic" CD-R discs, but after burning 7 and having 3 of them fail I decided enough is enough and returned the remainder
    • I have burned thousands and thousands of them with very few bad discs.
    • The first batch had no "bad" discs in it as far as I could tell.
    • These discs work pretty well for the most
    • These are reasonable quality (My ADIP was AML-003-00) and produce low error rates (PIE/C2 etc, see: [...] in a Samsung S223Q (you know, one of the few DVD writers that can burn the cheap Memorex DVD+R DL discs effortlessly and without errors), with a smooth transfer test playback that scales linearly right up to 19X on the outer edge with no dropouts or retries
    • These discs work pretty well for the most
    • With Amazon Prime's free shipping, this is a really great price and superior discs
    • I have used only the "better" more expensive media in the past because I had purchased some cheaper discs which didn't work so well for me.

    • convenient to have enough disc good price
    • Would have one more star if it wasn't so easy to scratch and the few coasters/bad discs.
    • i have found the ratio of bad discs to be similar to the HP or TDK blank media that i also use.
    • **+ Low price for a 100 discs+ Decent quality discs that burn without
    • However these particular discs would burn normally part way then fail for some reason when I burned discs at maximum speed with PowerISO and perhaps also the Windows DVD burning utility
    • No bad discs.
    • Obviously, the discs are as good but no better than any other on the market.
    • This is an Excellent Disc with great burning speed, and it is at an Excellent Price
    • every disc worked great i like the way it was shipped would buy these DVDs again but the price keeps flip flopping but other than that i like them better than most name brands not one bad disc out of a hundred

    • wrong!These discs are garbage
    • While higher speed recording saves time and generally results in great discs, slower speed recordings may give you your best chance for a higher quality disc, with lower error rates.

    • Good quality discs.
    • I am accustomed to encountering a bad disc once in a while, but these Amazon discs are much worse than other brands
    • There are several other reviews that cite poor quality; my suggestion to them is to check the function of their DVD burner; poor mechanical condition of the burner can make it very 'picky' and increase the number of bad discs encountered.
    • Awesome price and great discs.
    • Rarely get a bad disc in a 100 spindle.
    • I NEVER scrimp when it comes to valuable back-ups of my work: Big love for Amazon's discs!
    • Disc failure rate seems to be better than average,BUTWhen you pick up the spindle by the clear top piece (the only way to pick them up off a flat surface) the parts separate, the bottom falls off, and the discs scatter.
    • But this time, out of the first 25 discs, 4 were coasters (bad discs).
    • The same equipment - burning discs with a MacBook, playing them in the car - has worked fine with other CD-R's in the past.

    • Ive almost gone through the whole pack, the discs have not gave me any problems
    • I run a video production business and tried burning these discs on 2 different burners but they failed
    • These discs have proved highly reliable, picking up data and images cleanly from my Toshiba VHS-to-DVD-burner and Divx player and reproducing a clean picture on my standard TV.They arrived safely, the packaging is no-frills, and the discs themselves are shiny in a way that didn't inspire a lot of immediate confidence, but the media is good.
    • These blank discs have given me no problem and all the videos and

    • All discs burned and verified with zerp coasters
    • Great discs, burned 100 of them and had success with all of them

    • For now, just take the fact that these discs are very much worth it, especially since they are so cheap
    • These discs have been great
    • The discs literally fall apart....the discs split in half
    • After numerous attempts (6 first order and 4 from replacement order) all were rejected as "illegal discs"
    • These discs work better than other brands that I have used
    • so out of a hundred discs i had 25 defective discs so
    • I tried to burn using my Macbook and it said the disc is either not compatible or of less quality

    • They work as well as higher priced discs
    • I have used alot of store bought brands these discs are a super value for the average user and experienced user i have yet to have a disc that has failed so i give them a solid 9 out of 10I also suggest JVC Taiyo Yuden Dvd-r's the best disc on the market in my eyes starrman1234
    • Turns out I need DVD- to burn discs compatible with my TV's DVD player so I will be using these for computer data back up only

    • but it is an issue when you go from 7 mins to 20 mins to burn a disc when you are doing multiple copies
    • The only thing I wish were different is that I prefer discs without black writing on them
    • These Amazon Basic disc are just as good as any other disc that I've used
    • For whatever reason, the top disc of every spindle is sometimes scratched beyond usability (probably a defect in their packaging)

    • As it turns out, the spindle broke in half (roughly), and some discs ended up falling out haphazardly and perhaps got scratched as I fumbled around with them.
