I was worried that the 8 inch speaker would not have enough bass for my liking, but after using it there is more than enough bass

I don't have any active basses handy to try but doubt they'll work any better.

(1) Passive bass instruments start sounding distorted/bad once you go past '3' on the volume knob.

If you want excellent bass tone in a practice combo, look no further

With a passive bass it seems quiet but with active pickups had to turn it down to a 3

Low B sounds like you're rattling pie pans
