My old APC, a ES 750 Backups, was bought in 2008, and the battery on it just failed (yes, it lasted TEN years)

You have to pay a lot more to get one with a network card, but with so many other products easily connecting to the web, I don't see why APC cannot make this affordable.

When it comes to battery backup, APC is the best.

I'm going back to the "dumb" $50 APC units which have worked for me for years and years without problems.

I had an APC XS 1000 unit that the battery died on, so I decided that I would go for the larger 1500 unit so that the system would last through longer outages.

Overall, I trust APC a lot, and think this was a good choice for a UPS.

Time will tell about battery life but APC is generally pretty good.

APC makes batteries available for every one of their UPS models that I use and they're usually higher quality than the cheaper ones you find online
