APC UPS 1500VA Sinewave UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector, APC BackUPS Pro UPS (BR1500MS)

    • The first one i ordered only lasted 30 days before the battery had gone bad
    • After purchasing a fine replacement battery for our ancient APC UPS - only to find out the UPS was a brick - we regrouped and bought this unit.
    • You should probably know that the unit described above that had a 23 minute run time when it was new started giving "bad battery" alarms over a year ago.
    • When I installed the UPS in my Home Theatre system it worked fine for about an hour, then intermittently when the Home Theatre was on it would kick into battery power and a high speed fan noise would emanate from the unit.
    • easy to install, hot swappable battery, leds don't glow if you don't wanna look at them, nasty line noise as measured by an oscilloscope, but silent operation
    • so I am not sure if that caused the demise or whether the battery that had already gone 3 years beyond suggested replacement died).
    • But I may purchase the complementary backup battery unit that plugs into this unit to extend its capacity.
    • But the UPS acted as if the battery was not connected and / or missing altogether.
    • Thus, if you have the unit in your bedroom, forget about getting more than 5 hours sleep, assuming you can get back to sleep after being jolted awake by the really, really, really annoying "failed battery" alarm
    • Excellent battery back up, with plenty of power
    • Arrived with completely depleted batteries
    • but when I tried the self-test on both PCs, both batteries failed and the beeping and flashing would not stop
    • I really like that there are outlets that only have surge protection and do not drain the battery.
    • So then we get to the "bad battery" that the unit detects.
    • Disconnecting the negative battery cable.4
    • It's easy to install but you have to remove the protective battery labels before using!
    • Mine continued to alarm for bad battery after I swapped in a new one causing me to think that the UPS itself had failed.
    • The strategy I've taken in the past is that where batteries get too expensive, I just buy the current model of teh UPS to upgrade, rather than a new battery by itself.
    • Just received my backup and the battery is draining while it's on 121+/- AC, and yes, Battery was removed and installed correctly since it is NOT connected during shipping.
    • Has enough battery backed up sockets for most TV systems (5 total) TV Cable Box Internet Box DVD Player Sound SystemSecond one we bought
    • It also has easily replaceable batteries.
    • When your UPS tells you that your batteries are bad, you need to replace them all at one time and soon.
    • If even only one battery is bad, it will drag down the system so it can't provide power for very long.
    • These batteries are good for 3-5 years, depending on temperature (3 years ~80F
    • The first unit displayed a bad battery indicator on day 1.
    • Decent product and software, but it's already failing its own self-test and is telling me the battery is dead
    • First battery was bad out of the box.
    • I have used it for about 7 days a week for over two years now and the battery is still going strong almost like new.
    • It was the first of the units to start giving "failed battery" alarms.
    • Had an APC smart UPS that kept overheating and killing the batteries, which were like $500 a pop, for the computers on my KBA comet.
    • Easy to install and the power surge only protection gave me options to protect my printer and scanner and not drain the battery.
    • We'd had our last desktop ups for 8 years, and never had to change the battery before it died.
    • I removed the battery and found that the positive internal battery connector was recessed compared to the negative terminal connector
    • Then the battery went bad, even after replacement it beeped and refused to reset
    • Have a way for the user to COMPLETELY DISABLE THE ALARM, even for "failed battery" warnings.
    • Great battery backup
    • I had one unit fail within a few days of use with a bad battery failure.
    • (I also had another CyberPower fail at work - not a dead battery - a failed unit).
    • Overloading or running UPS backups at maximum capacity will damage both the batteries and the UPS electronics over time
    • Easy to setup (simply flip the battery around) and easy to use, display can stay on or auto-timeout in purposely dark rooms like a theater, plenty of plugs (both battery backed-up and surge-only) on the back of the unit...
    • Battery works great
    • They are replacing the whole unit with a brand new one even though the battery is the culprit because the battery is out of stock/back ordered for 5 weeks
    • It's a nice battery backup, no doubt
    • battery died after 1 year :(
    • I also feel that APC batteries hold up longer before they die, versus CyberPower batteries
    • 1. replacing the battery would be insanely easy on this APC (slide off the bottom cover, slide out the old battery, slide in the new battery, replace cover), and 2. the PowerChute software (if you use the ethernet-to-usb cable to monitor the unit on your computer) is much more useful than CyberPower's software -- APC's will tell you when the last under/over occured, how much power you're drawing, estimated time based on power drawn, cost per day (you can even specify your personal $/kWh rate), CO2 emission rate (if you're interested in your footprint), modifying the over/under Voltage amounts, modifying the sensitivity to electrical noise, and so on
    • Bought this one to replace a failing Battery Backup.
    • I like that the battery is replaceable too.
    • One tip, if you have a battery fail after a few years, be sure and completely power off the unit when replacing the battery.
    • Battery failed self test after one month of service with no power outage events
    • so the battery has basically gone bad, even though it was not in use, still sealed, in the box, in a closet all this time.
    • Easy battery swap.
    • The batteries are still useful and NOT at the point where they need to be replaced.
    • Based on my anecdotal evidence, if you can deal with the squeaking (e.g., the unit's going in a closet) you'll get a perfectly fine battery backup
    • and they all make 0 noise, except when transitioning to power, failed battery, on battery, etc.
    • I bought this one to replace my older one, as its battery was expiring plus my previous one was discontinued
    • Battery failure less than two years after purchase
    • For example, you should plug in your computer main unit and monitor on the left side outlets marked as "Battery Backup" and heavy loads like your laser printer on the right side marked "Surge Only"
    • This UPS works, and the battery seems to last what it's supposed to, and I like the idea of expandability, blah, blah
    • Thus your PS4 continues to run off the battery until it drains totally out, and then powers off suddenly.
    • Battery failed in only a little over a year.
    • We don't need a lot of still useful batteries in our landfills!!!4
    • Problem is, the new battery tested bad right out of the box, and is right back to the sometimes good, sometimes not.
    • it was clear the batteries were working fine
    • Great battery back for your high-end systems that require pure sinewave power - as most of the newer high-end power supplies do
    • Never had to pay a penny on RMA's, they usually just ship out new batteries free of charge, and tell you to recycle the old ones.
    • 2 out of 3 opened peep and say weak battery
    • Very good battery backup, if your running something that is not too power hungry, it will run it for over an hour
    • Not only has the battery performed this cleaning for me nearly 24/7 for quite a while, but also managed to keep a full size gaming rig, 3D monitor, and (mostly idle) server machine as well as an 18 inch fan and a 12 watt light running for nearly an hour
    • February 23rd, 2017, Battery fails in second one, and took the unit with it
    • the APC kept beeping and after reviewing paperwork , it showed signs of a faulty battery. living in florida where brown out are major , i quickly called amazon to inform them what had happen
    • The battery is easy to install and change, the display is informative, and you have the option to turn off the visual display when the unit is running
    • It is fairly heavy, it doesn't have the new lightweight batteries but that really doesn't bother me
    • love my back up battery highly recommend
    • Horrible - battery is dead as soon as return window is closed!
    • The one we replaced was being used on a monster computer and it corroded the battery.
    • a GOOD battery back up/surge protector if you live in an area with annoying power black outs such as frequent thunderstorms
    • I purchased this battery on november 21st, 2017 and on October 17, 2018 the battery failed a self test and I was told to purchase a replacement from a prompt.
    • easy to install, hot swappable battery, leds don't glow if you don't wanna look at them, nasty line noise as measured by an oscilloscope, but silent operation
    • The batteries seemed to fail sooner than I expected, and it took a bit of fiddling with this unit to get it to stop alarming about the batteries being dead after they were replaced.
    • Battery was dead two weeks after delivery!
    • The battery will still bleed even if it outside the APC but not as fast as when it is inserted in the usable position
    • and I am finding it VERY confusing on which is the proper APC OEM replacement battery to get.
    • Great battery backups that have easy to replace batteries when they get old
    • The battery pack fails to pass the self diagnostics run on the UPS (Power Chute software is problematic at best and never reads a good battery)
    • After power being out 5 mins, batteries died never to be raised from the dead.
    • I have had a couple of issues in the past with bad batteries int he UPS
    • really like the idea of easy battery replacement!!
    • Battery died literally at the end of the return period.
    • The bad battery light (and beep if you don't mute it) come on whenever a self test is run with even a light load on the unit.
    • This information is nowhere in the documentation, on Amazon's web page, not even in the APC web page (unless you drill down several levels). So, instead of a smart power backup, one has to use this unit as an overpriced dumb battery set
    • APC always makes a good battery backup.
    • Great battery backup for businesses or home use
    • and it is already reporting that the battery is bad.
    • I'm using a backup battery recommended for this in order to increase my usable battery time when the power goes out
    • About a month after purchasing this UPS, it started giving alarms about failed battery tests.
    • While searching for instructions about cleaning up the leaking battery acid safely, I found several articles online that said APC would replace the unit at no cost to me if this happened, but that is not true
    • APC says that according to the serial number this unit was built in 2011 so it is quite old and the battery is no good now
    • This battery back is great
    • Product was shipped and it originally said the battery was dead
    • A quick test shows that the battery back-up works.
    • At that point the battery kept testing bad, with a rare one in there testing good.
    • this backup, which is about twice as powerful as my last, had a depleted battery and just shut off and was flashing F04
    • When I ordered the Back-UPS BR1500G I did so based on the following in the product description:The Back-UPS BR1500G offers guaranteed battery backup and surge protection for high performance computer systems, networks, external storage devices, game consoles and other electronics
    • The UPS worked fine upside-down, but said the battery was bad when right side up.
    • and it is showing the battery was manufactured in 2014 and the 3 year warranty expired in May of 2017.
    • I was worried that I was going to be without a battery backup system for a few weeks (that I desperately needed and just forked out $200 on), and I was worried that I would have to wait for APC to get my bad battery back first, test it, then wait for APC to send me the replacement unit
    • so it doesn’t drain the batteries and rely on the UPS in case of a power failure
    • I really like about this unit (reliable USB power for charging devices & easy battery access are the top two), it feels like a step back from the CyberPower unit it replaces
    • well... just one problem happened after 1-1.5years :) battery died and they switched off
    • Battery went bad after about 8 months, APC was very helpful in replacing it on warranty at no charge.
    • i bought this in April 17 now, July 18, just 1 year and 3 months it got bad battery indicator and prom to replace the battery
    • Good price for a decent battery back up.
    • While the unit thinks the battery is bad and needs to be replaced, if you unplug the unit from the wall outlet so that the APC is running on battery, the run time on the "bad batteries" is, about a YEAR after the "failed battery" alarms started, at about 83% of what it was when the unit was new!!!
    • A nice battery with a little longer life than the small standard battery
    • Frequent Florida lightning strikes require the best Surge Protector available, and this unit has a great battery backup if local power should be lost!
    • It has no noise, battery works great
    • AFTER STARTING GIVING FAILED BATTERY ALARMS IT
    • Second battery is working fine.
    • now I just found out why- the "bad-battery" indicator is blinking this whole
    • Lead/acid batteries AGE !
    • but I think that's just physics - batteries of this size get hot, and need to be cooled
    • The display will show usable info and the battery is easy to install.
    • This is the best "small" battery back-up you can buy, but you'll want the BR24BPG extra battery for it
    • However IF as APC claims, this product does not work with TVs or other home entertainment electronics, that should be noted in the product description, preferably in bold letters so others do not make the assumption that when reading "The Back-UPS BR1500G offers guaranteed battery backup and surge protection for high performance computer systems, networks, external storage devices, game consoles and other electronics," the other electronics would include home theatre items or TVs
    • My battery was completely dead on arrival and the unit just kept beeping at me no matter what I did
    • The power company even checked the batteries by interrupting our power for about a minute (blackout) and the units worked fine
    • (Generic batteries work just as well as the overpriced OEM ones - BTW)
    • But it tells you how long the battery will last and when you're threatening to overload the system.
    • They ended up sending me a new battery completely free of charge, so I've updated my review accordingly (still docking one star due to the hassle).
    • the only issue I've ever had with APC is dead batteries) and the included Powerchute software needed very little tweaking from the defaults for my Windows 7 setup
    • They act as a great surge protector and the battery lasts for years before needing to be replaced.
    • You would hope that Amazon would have newer inventory of these units, or that Amazon wouldnt knowingly carry defective units, but clearly from the reviews on Amazon, it's still hit or miss as to whether or not you will order an APC BR1500MS (or BR1000MS, etc) and get one that doesn't chirp
    • The instructions need to be improved as they seem to be disorganized.
    • A great product and it works as it should.
    • The battery will still bleed even if it outside the APC but not as fast as when it is inserted in the usable position
    • Overall I highly recommend it as I have had many of these over the years and they have never let me down.
    • Works as it should.
    • Great as usually
    • Mine does it but it does not bother me as much as it bothers some of the reviewers.
    • They don' t require much power, like the Bridgeport mill and Republic Turnmaster lathe they serve
    • They don' t require much power, like the Bridgeport mill and Republic Turnmaster lathe they serve
