Two bad units in as many years, false reporting from the software, and a product you can't trust not to fry your equipment

However it turns out my unit will only work when turned upside down, and when i tried with the old batteries it also worked fine upside down

A year and a half ago I purchased two cyberpower ups systems for two of your stations figuring that they would be just as reliable as APC units.

Unfortunately even in May 2018, the unit that I received from Amazon DID have the defect (the unit that Amazon sold me was manufactured on October 30 2017 per the APC diagnostic label that comes with every APC UPS battery that you purchase)

As with all the APC products that I have purchased, this unit was easy to set up (connect battery) and sits silently awaiting a power fluxuation or outage

and they have all new inventory of the BR1500MS that no longer has the defect, while some Amazon warehouses still have defective units ready for sale

I don't know of how much protection this BR1500G or my older unit provided in terms of spikes and clean power, but do know my equipment tends to run longer than most.

The unit's battery failed self - test September 25th; the return window closed on September 19th

While this particular "noise" coming from the defective UPS that I received isn't part of the quality-assurance process, the unit I received was still nonetheless safe to use and worked great until I got my replacement unit from APC

I was, after all, continuing to use the defective unit, and by the time I would get the replacement unit, I would still have almost a full 3 years of warranty coverage left

I would buy this same unit over and over again, knowing that if I received a defective unit, the APC RMA exchange process would be easy

and I didn't want to risk getting yet another defective unit and wasting time going through the exchange process (even though Amazon makes exchanges easy)

This unit was easy to set up and worked beautifully out of the box

Furthermore, CyberPower has made myself and friends PAY to ship defective units back to them in the past, while APC handles warranty returns and exchanges for free (which is critical for shipping a heavy UPS that equates to expensive shipping)

The only issue I had was that the unit reported one of the batteries had failed when I first powered it on, but a quick chat with APC

You should be aware that these units will work great and live long as long as you do not install them in places where ambient temperature exceeds 75 degrees regularly

APC replaced the bad unit under warranty but that still involves considerable time and effort just to remove, replace, and return the bad unit when I had just gone through that exercise only one month ago.

Sadly, my unit exhibits the "chirping" that others have mentioned, and whoa is it annoying as I can hear it over the fans of my desktop computer tower

(I also had another CyberPower fail at work - not a dead battery - a failed unit).

They then tried to get me to pay shipping to return the defective unit, which is ridiculous, but later sent a free UPS return label when I pointed out how unfair that was

Seems like a solid unit, but the battery failed after a month or so, and APC gave a really hard time to get a replacement, requiring multiple downtimes for my environment to test this or that so they could possibly get out of actually having to ship out a battery

My only worry before calling into APC customer service was that I would be treated like a normal consumer who didn't understand technology and that I would have to go through a million scripts on how to test and confirm whether or not my unit was truly defective, OR that I wouldn't be provided with the same level of superior customer service that I'm used to from APC when I’m calling in as a big business customer
