The surge protection alone protects against damage to equipment

We haven't had any power failures and our thunder and lightning season hasn't started yet, so I can't comment on the surge protection features.

APC makes a great product and I have owned a variety of their UPS models and various surge protection products.

The only thing you have to be careful about is not plugging high-power items (e.g., laser printers) into the battery side, as they will quickly exhaust it; they should merely have surge protection.
