I have purchased tons of items from amazon's website and this is the 1st bad review haven't had to write.

I don't understand on those negative reviews

Anyone who wouldn't give this product a less than stellar review is way too jaded

The 3 star reviewer gave it excellent reviews for the music capability, etc, and only downgraded it because he had trouble downloading porn onto it and using it as a PHONE on the internet due to lack of a mic and external speaker.

I had read a few negative reviews about this iPod version before I bought one, but now I wonder if these people have too much time on their hands

But after reading all the reviews of the MP3 players available, I decided to go with an Ipod - and I'm glad I did.

*Before you read some of the negative reviews, please consider this was BEFORE the new firmware

Bottom line, if you have a large music library, ignore the negative reviews, because this is the best large capacity mp3 player on the market

Convinced that the reviews were exaggerated, I decided to buy it

Other reviews indicate that this can be ameliorated by disabling the "view album artwork" feature, but this would take away some of the visual appeal of the device

This review is 4 stars instead of 5 only because the battery of this Classic is extremely finicky, but otherwise it works just as it should

If you read the reviews on Amazon and other sites, you will see that Sony has about 98% positive reviews whereas Ipods only have about 75% positive reviews and many more horror stories

Many negative reviews are from techs who look at the new iPod Classic and see an inferior audio chip and a few other things compared to previous versions

I'm sure someone else has written this as there are 685 other reviews, but I neglected to read the fine print on OS requirements -- and this new Classic will not operate on my perfectly fine MAC OS 10.3.9 -- which means I am bascially forced to upgrade to Leopard

So if your like i was and are really worried about getting this because of all the bad reviews, dont worry... remember, no piece of technology is perfect in its first days, it takes a few updates to get it righ, and im sure Apple is working hard to perfect its product and continue to dominate the MP3 market (for good reason too)
