My assumption is that Apple only cleanly supports music purchased on iTunes, and doesn't deal well with music obtained outside their ecosystem

when it doesn't freeze my iTunes it deletes all the music when I eject it.

It plays music, but the battery dies pretty quickly and when I plug it in to put music on it it can sometimes freeze or take a long time to be recognized
