After trying to blow it up for a couple of days it won't allow one to add air for it to work.

TIP : use the smaller attached knob to trap the air and it blows up even faster [float has two knobs - one for machine and one for breath] bless up for floats!

I can air it up, but it never has held air like the end with the small black thing.

Only issue is the valves to blow air are both too large and too small, they have a large one and small one and can be tricky but are quick to blow up once you get the hang of it.

In June, both hammock floats are not inflated, and lose air very rapidly.

They are very hard to blow up and did lose air in the beginning, but we kept putting air in them, and finally, I believe, we did it right because we have not had to put air in them for over a month now.
