so I diagnosed & tested out the RAM, Hard drive, watched the device manager until the laptop shut off to see if any hardware had issues by refreshing prior to shutdown

core 2 duo, 2MB ram, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 and one 100GB 5400rpm hard drive.
