I'm not a fan of the price but, unlike other thing that you have to pay through the nose for and end up throwing it out because it doesn't work as advertised, this works like a dream.

The ASUS External Slim 8X DVD-RW optical drive works as advertised

The drive was recognized immediately by Windows 7 and Windows 8 RC, as well as by the system BIOS for booting from a disc

The installation would frequently hang as if there were a driver issue

Drive is easy to use and works as it should, not much else to say, good product for a good price.
