• Reviews around cable (2.59 of 5)

ASUS MB168B 15.6" WXGA 1366x768 USB Portable Monitor

    • Not every USB-C cable available in the marketplace now are created equal
    • UpdateI have two of these, the two of them have their very proprietary usb cable already half broken, they don t stick to the usb port any more and as a result keep on getting disconnecting, over time I just gave up using them because it was just very inconvenient
    • The single cable seems sturdy and is of decent length
    • One cable for data and power keeps the desk and wires cleaner and simple.
    • Cable was intermittent from the beginning - Screen would go on and off on occasion.
    • I tried the Y-cable other reviewers suggested and It did work, when I connected the split cable (for power) to the usb port of the Surface Pro 3's power brick
    • I ordered an Amazon basics cable because many said this was a cheap cable
    • Once I plugged in a better cable everything was fine again though and performance was good
    • Our white cable that came with our pixels phones is working awesome for it
    • Most cheap cables will NOT work
    • The woefully short cable simply compounded my ire for this device
    • And, I even bought the "Amazon" recommended cord USB 3.1 Type C Cable to go with it.
    • It sets up in moments, doesn't suck all of the battery out of my 13" macbook pro, and there's only a single, glorious cable to plug in
    • The bad:Connection cable/port is flimsy and it takes multiple disconnects and reconnects to finally get my Surface to recognize itPlastic
    • You have to be careful not to move the cable at all when connected or you will lose the signal
    • Regular USB-C cables are incapable of translating the video signal necessary to make the monitor work, so I now have a 15" brick on my desk
    • USB A cable dies after a month.
    • The cable connection seems loose and I have no way to tell if its a faulty cable or a faulty panel
    • It's also the worst feature of this product, as this specific USB-C cable can not be replaced if you lose it
    • USB-C cable that came with the pixel didn't work but the one included did.
    • Pros: Amazingly lightweight, excellent protective caseCons: weak short cable, buy a good quality spare, even the quality usb3 cable can dislodge when bumped due to the port placement
    • Just plug in the included USB 3.0 cable (also 2.0 compatible) and you are up and running in now time.
    • However, the USB 3.0 cable was stiff and screen is very yellowish
    • They recommended the exact Y split cable to buy and I found it at Fry’s
    • I got a Y cable as recommended (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L1K1OIA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00) and it doesn't need the extra power - just the better cable is good enough
    • I got a Y cable as recommended (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L1K1OIA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00) and it doesn't need the extra power - just the better cable is good enough
    • For those customers that damage the cable or lose the cable - you are in trouble!
    • Nor does any 3rd party seem to be selling a USB-C to USB-C cable capable of making this thing work
    • So before I bought this product I saw a few reviews that the cable was very touchy
    • Pros: Amazingly lightweight, excellent protective caseCons: weak short cable, buy a good quality spare, even the quality usb3 cable can dislodge when bumped due to the port placement
    • This makes them jut out the side awkwardly so they are easy to bump into and snagging the cables is too easy
    • I like it using the USB-C cable as my laptop has one USB-C port that I use for nothing and leaves the limited number of USB-A ports free for other devices.
    • A right-angle usb c cable would be really helpful since I put the monitor close to other objects and a wall, and the cable is thick and takes several inches to bend, and the usb c port could get damaged if I bump the cord
    • The elastic loops aren't especially great for the task, so I've ended up just folding the cable, placing it along the top edge of the display in the case, and then folding the flap of the case over in a way that leaves space for the cable to sit wedged up there
    • Not a great cable connection.
    • If you have trouble just get a (very cheap) new cable.
    • The cable stops working after I bought it for less than a month
    • Cable seems a little finicky; I had to log out and back in after re-positioning the monitor.
    • This is mostly fine, however I have found that while the screen is in the portrait position, the cable becomes taut, and have had more than one incident where I nearly knocked the screen over while adjusting my work space.
    • If you are anything like me, the less cables, the better - I have a thing for cable management.
    • Cable is very loose
    • I tried the Y-cable other reviewers suggested and It did work, when I connected the split cable (for power) to the usb port of the Surface Pro 3's power brick
    • I ordered a USB-C to USB-C replacement cable only to find that the cable is only compatible with Asus cables.
    • I don't like cables.
    • Cable still works.
    • I don't like the original cable that it shipped with much, but you can get an inexpensive replacement (got mine from Mono price - Pallate Series 3.0)
    • Before this the screen worked as intended except for having a loose cable port on the monitor itself
    • so the cable can be a little loose
    • I had one of these to use with my 13" MacBook Pro (2018), and it works amazing through the provided USB C cable
    • Cable is disaster
    • If I bump the cable and the monitor goes out, I have to reboot again
    • The cable could be a littler better quality, it falls out of the monitor if your not careful, so I tried another cable that fits snugly
    • This monitor is awesome, it perfectly matches the monitor on my laptop, the single cable is great and everybody that sees it is impressed, this includes TSA security guards inspecting my bag, it even brought a smile to their face, after describing it to them they said "that's pretty nice"
    • Also the cable that comes with it is absolute garbage
    • The cable also doesn't really have a home in the case, but the case does protect the screen well
    • At least include a split USB3 cable and a wall wort as backup.
    • I just bought a new $6 Amazon Basics USB Micro-B cable and it works perfectly again.
    • I love it very portable but short cable
    • USB “Y” split cable into the USB port of the Surface Pro’s power block attached to the electrical cord
    • You'll want to search for:Nekteck USB-IF Certified USB C 3.1 GEN 2 Cable(10Gbps/100W) USB C to USB C Cable (Thunderbolt 3 Compatible) with E-marker & Power Delivery For MacBook Pro Galaxy S9
    • However, it comes with this flimsy cable that is just awful
    • This monitor has a very weak cable connection I sent it into Asus for repair it took 3
    • only compatible with newer computers with built in USB-C
    • The C+ is brighter and more responsive than the B+ as it uses the displayport, standard over USB 3.1 Type C meaning that it counts towards the maximum number of monitors your graphics card supports
    • before you buy, do yourself a favor and research it a bit as far as compatibility goes.compared to 169c+...in my experience, the c+ will only work if your mobo setup has a 3.1 usb c slot that's dp alt mode compatible.
    • However, most laptops don't support USB C yet.
    • Unfortunately, the USB-A to Proprietary connector does not work with the Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter and my MacBook pro no longer recognizes it
    • The response time for DisplayPort over USB C is much better than MB169B+ which is USB 3.0 with drivers.
    • Apparently doesn't work with USB3.0, only USB type C with Display port
    • " Full HD 1920x1080 IPS USB Type-C Powered Eye Care Portable MonitorComputer: XPS 13 (2015)Well designed product
    • the C+ blows the B+ away with rich color and sharper image
    • ** Will most likely not work unless your laptop has a native USB C
    • If you know the "C" version will work with your laptop (C with alternate modes capable of display port), and you don't plan on using it on anything else, the "C" might be a better option
    • If your device does not support DisplayPort over Type-C please look into getting the MB169B+ instead as this monitor uses the USB 3.0 standard
    • DisplayPort™ over USB-C™ is using USB Type-C connector and cable to support the DisplayPort interface for audio/video transport capability
    • , the stand/cover was OK, but the problem was the USC C, I couldn't get the right connector to hook it to my laptop and get it to work, I ordered several to try before returning the item.
    • but I don't have a c compatible
    • On The Go (OTG Host Cable) for Type-C Supported Devices (6 Inch
    • There is currently no USB-C to Multiport USB-C dongle available that supports pass-thru USB-C charging (none that I have found, anyways after much searching
    • ONLY compatible to: USB 3.1 type-C(GEN2), Thunderbolt 3 devices, USB 3.0 type-C is not compatible
    • Overall bad experience on this one - both on product itself as well as with ASUS customer service.
    • I can finally travel anywhere and be just as productive as in my office
    • The colors are not as rich as on my main display, but nothing to gripe about unless you are doing photo editing
    • The image quality is adequate for our work as well as if we watch a movie.
    • I gave it a 3 because the cable that is provided fits loosely and continues to disconnect-extremely frustrating as it also resizes my laptop screen.
    • If you are that worried about it being as perfect as
    • In portrait orientation it looks exactly as good as in landscape
    • I use this when I travel as well as at home with laptop
    • One other note, and this is something I found out via trial and error as I could not find any information on this monitor with regard how to replace a lost or damaged cable
    • This thing often falls off as it is very flimsy to use and can only be used on a hard, level surface.
    • Never as wide as you'd like, but comparable to most laptop screens (and actually even better than my ACER).I'm really
    • No light bleed around edges as I expected based on other reviews.
    • Make sure its the B+ version which supports USB3.0
    • the C+ blows the B+ away with rich color and sharper image
    • Good that USB connection on monitor is on the left side - but needs a better design like being L-
