The design is incredibly clean, the metal base gives the monitor a premium feel and seems well built

But what initially drew me to this monitor is how nice and simple the design is.

The good: Bright, non-reflective, vibrant colors, sharp images, stylish design(very high quality appearance), sturdy, great for gaming

No distinct button on the monitor to control volume either - very poor design in that aspect.

I use it as extra monitor for web/app design (paired with a Macbook Pro retina).- Pixel quality is of course not as good as a retina, but absolutely too good for a Full HD display.- Its design is awesome, minimalistic and very solid.- Built-Quality went beyond my expectations when I opened the box

It is physically a gorgeous design with a thin bezel, simple controls / buttons, HDMI and DP (display port) cables.

the edge of the display blends almost seamlessly into the case, giving the visual impact of what I imagine a "frameless" design would feel like...

I still give it 3 stars because we do really love the design of these particular monitors, overall.

I think the is a terrible design element and is a failure on the design committees part at ASUS and if I had the option to buy again when this is not on sale and I can actually get my hands on a similar Samsung or LG monitor for a similar price I would skip the ASUS every time because even the weird joystick controller that the Koreans use on the monitors are nowhere nearly as frustrating to use as this thing

So if you happen to get a display without much light bleeds and can live with the limitations stated in this review, this is a pretty monitor worthy of the design awards it's won

After doing some research online and going to some brick and mortar stores to test units out, I finally decided on the Asus MX279H.While I must state that one of my initial reasons for purchasing the monitor was the gorgeous design, I quickly found that it performed spectacularly as well

It's much sturdier, nice base, nice design, beautiful, rich colors.. just a great monitor.
