Looked all over and no other phones fit the bill - WAY too large and bulky, cordless (won't work if power is out), much more expensive, etc.

I like having a corded phone because it will still work if power goes out and my cordless phone doesn't work.

My cell is my main phone, but I have a land line in case of earthquakes (last big one we lost power but not phone service - !).

The sound part works very well with no extraneous power source.

id and caller id/call-waiting, as a back up to our cordless models, for power outages and such -- works great
