I just use the two side tape to place them down... with the speakers up, they do sound better, and my dog no longer knocks down my speakers... these things are sturdy.

Essentially all I did was use the 3M double sided tape (super hold) that came with the stands to secure my speakers.

If you would rather not use the bracket you can screw the base into the speakers (way more invasive).

So the bracket secures the speaker to the stand and holds the speaker in place

Instead of returning them, I just removed the high back brackets and found a different way to attack the speakers to the base.

Nevertheless, the stand is good and now that it fits the Energy Take Classic speakers without modifications, its an excellent buy.

This was more disappointing than finding that the "recommended" item (speaker stands for the vizio speakers) didn't fit!

All in all, besides the annoying screw length issue I faced, these hold my speakers up well as designed for and advertised.

Right now, if you were to bump my speaker hard enough, it would probably fall off.

The plate that the actual speaker sits on is only about 2 or 3 inches so my speakers arent being supported so much by the plate but is supported by the metal bracket thing that you screw on under the plate to screw to the back of your speaker.
