I only need one of the channels, so it's overkill for my use, but it seemed like a good product with good reviews and it wasn't any more expensive than decent-quality single-channel amps.

But it is perhaps unreasonable to expect better quality at this price point.

Headphones are the cheapest way to get excellent sound quality, and isolation from say, air conditioning noise

With that problem taken care of, the unit does just what I need it to do, and the sound quality is plenty good for TV viewing.

It is essential, when comparing different headphones or speakers of any sort, to ensure the volume coming out of the different units is exactly the same, because our ears/brain otherwise will hear the sounds differently and will prefer one sound over the other as much for the volume as for the sound quality.
