The 16bit, 44.1 kHz sample rate is more than adequate (commercial standard) and the unit is fairly quiet.

Tried this unit with the bundled software and it worked allright, but it really shown when used with Cool Edit Pro.

I won't downgrade this unit for that feature missing as it's your decision as which one to purchase but had I been aware that there is a unit available with that feature, I would have purchased that one as it is not that much more.

This unit works great for taking a line level from something like an audio mixer or even an old cassette deck and converting it into a USB audio input
