I found out the hard way that the soundcard's Line-in jack (for connecting a mic) on most laptops are usually of terrible quality

I am using it to play Rocksmith and to switch between speakers and headphones as well as for volume control

Simply needed to go from RCA to 1/4 and these mixer did that for me as well as give me a few extra channels to use.

I am very pleased with the ease of use and the final product as well as with the design and presentation of this mixer
