Awful smell, god knows what this is

My previous Belkin surge protector still has awful smell

The smell was overwhelming when I first opened the package even prior to plugging the unit into the wall.

The case to this TV show STILL has the burned plastic smell in 2018.

I don't know what kind of chemicals they use, but after using previously owned Belkin surge protector that had an awful smell, this surge protector fell in the same category
