In UL database I found many cheap power strip with SPD has high VPR,only 1 mode protection which makes them nearly useless(you will also see many bad comment).*In NEMA website they claim energy rating(Joules) of SPD is not so useful and didn't have industry standard to test it

We get strange power surges at least once a month - even on clear days.

If it does malfunction due to a spike, brown out or other dirty power condition, simply replace it

Not only that, the area I live in has power surges, power loss, and god only knows what else

We bought this surge protector to use on our refrigerator because electric company power surges and lightning strikes kept ruining the computer board in it which cost $150 and that's without installation (after the first board was installed we learned how to do it ourselves)

There are a few reviews complaining the $8 surge protector didn't save their $3000 device, lightening is a uncontrollable and unpredictable thing and can do whatever it wants, just like the power coming into your house.
