For many years (15+), I used a much earlier B&D version that had a glass-lined thermal carafe (easier to keep clean) and a removable see-though water tank which was much more convenient because you could easily fill it up to the desired volume as marked on the tank's side without having to fill up the carafe (or a separate vessel) then pour the water into the non-removable tank of this maker and then pour out the excess water before returning the carafe.

I bought this as a back-up to my Cuisinart pot with stainless steel carafe and was very disappointed in the Black&Decker.

The coffee was perfectly hot, the last cup was as hot and delicious as the first, the carafe itself is easy to clean thanks to the large opening, and the spout on the carafe pours out perfectly!

I even tried to warm the carafe before with HOT water and still coffee was just warm after 5 minutes.
