Every well written episode presents an unusual crime story ( NYPD) as well as thought provoking questions and moral issues (with interesting twists) concerning principles such as honesty, duty & honor, integrity, justice, the letter of our laws vs the spirit of the law, the difficulties of policing and the politics involved, the importance of and the unity and love of family, & the belief and love of their faith to name just a few

I rarely see the cheesy cop stories/one liners in this show.

Unlike other cop shows this one does not glorify violence and the grotesque

It shows just enough information to understand the crimes and topics without showing all the unnecessary gore and violence

danny is a psychotic thug

the only problem is that danny is self righteous , arrogant egotistical

While Danny is still a bully, his character is likeable because of his passion in solving cases.
