This thing is trash

Their microphones are probably one of the best things they make but their Compass Boom Arm is utter trash

but I'm sure you could use it in your car's suspension to great result because this thing is resilient

Sadly, this sort of defect ruins the whole thing

This thing is a disaster right out of the box

Aside from this lower hinge constantly failing, this thing is very nice indeed

Looks and feels like this thing can take a BEATING before breaking.

Another thing about that, I don't recommend bending the boom arm while it is mounted, which can be a little frustrating in terms of positioning

It looks great but the damn thing won’t stay in place

I'll start with the one good thing about this boom arm

The spring they used is way too strong and there is no way to tension the thing to actually stay where you want it

It's really big, which is a good thing for some people, but for the average WFH'er, it gets in the way

However, ot tends to creep up and down a lot and the weight is the only resistance in rotating from the base, so if you bump it, things get knocked off your desk

At less than $100, this thing is a bargain and value by any definition.

This could be a good purchase for a very heavy microphone like a Yeti, but be advised that once looking at the internals I'm amazed this thing didn't break sooner

I tightened it beyond what I thought was possible without breaking the damn thing, and the boom arm still extends and raises up.
