I did buy these based off of the YouTuber Mark Rober's recommendation because of the promised noise cancellation quality of both the microphone and speakers.

Disappointing noise-cancelling--significantly worse than my Bose QC20s, which were released in May 2015.

As far as pure noise cancelling goes my $30 china shooting range earmuffs do a better job (but obviously these are not headphones).Another high concept ‘premium’ device that tries to be everything, and just ends up being awkward, not very good at its core job, and very annoying to use.

Not only does the noise cancelling not work but there is a static white noise that goes on and off similar to a hearing test.

Passive noise reduction just wouldn’t do

I learned after purchasing this product that a hardware issue is that you will hear static crackling noise - this will interrupt whatever it is you're listening to

Repetitive noise (AC) cancels well, but you can hear some slight white noise instead, which is fine due to fighting white noise creates extra sound pressure which my over-stress ears

I do wish the bass was a bit better, but I think that’s a sacrifice you have to make for the great noise cancellation

Issues varied from others hearing my voice completely garbled, to me hearing weird loud noises over others talking

The ambient noise suppression that these new 700 headphones provide is a significant improvement over the QC-35’s

While the adjustable noise cancellation is nice, it also does not seem demonstrably better from my 9-year-old pair on the higher settings

Regarding the Bose NC700 and the Sony WH-1000XM4 noise-cancelling headphones:Both have good noise-cancelling

but I noticed it can sometimes mistake outside noise for my voice

B&W has the best passive noise isolation (ANC off), Sony less so, while Bose has zero passive noise isolation.

These are the "best" headset in exactly one use case:You need the best ambient noise cancelling available, and you will only use them with one device

They don't fully cancel out noise, rather, they damper the volume - though, you can still hear loud noises
