It's not as trendy as the "Beats", but it does the job well.

While it won't completely eliminate every external sound, it does a pretty good job at eliminating most

But the noise cancellation on both th QC3 and QC20 do a good job and stop almost all of the engine roar and can add som very good sound if and when you want

However, it does do a noticeably good job at cancelling out background noise and hushing other annoyances.

I've tried them out in the store, and they seemed to do a good job of blocking sound, however, I found that the sound quality in the bose noise canceling earbuds to be much less desirable than the sound of the QuietComfort 3s.

Again, for the price these thing go for, Bose could have done a better job on their cables
