Even thought the brother scanning software works it is outdated and the interface is not that great

thank you, Brother - but, this machine is nothing but a frustration.

This scanner could be good if Brother designed to support it in a meaningful way

Let me first say that when it comes to scanners, the top dog right now as of 2017 is a Fujitsu Fi-7160 Fujitsu fi-7160 - Document scanner - Duplex - 8.5 in x 14 in - 600 dpi x 600 dpi - up to 60 ppm by Generic or its more expensive brother the Fujitsu FI-7180 2TU8350 - Fujitsu Fi-7180 Sheetfed Scanner.

Nor was the Brother support site helpful

If you can live with fewer features, such as wireless capability, then the Brother will work well for home or a small business

I have a ScanSnap high speed scanner, and this Brother compares well to it
