This unit does exactly what I want: quick & easy scans, directly to thumb-drive, and in pdf format.

2-sided scanning has been flawless, and although the Brother Control Center 4 software is slightly different (the 2000e version is a bit more comprehensive) the overall utility and ease-of-use is the same

My recommendation would be to spend a few more dollars (right now the WiFi version is $10 more) and buy instead the version of this scanner that supports wireless scanning

It makes really nice scans - that is if you can get it to work.

Works well, having some issues connecting to network for others to use but it is fast, clear scans.

However, not including the required USB cable to support scanning to a computer is a big deficiency

It does scan pretty quickly, and for a pile of 8 1/2 X 11 pages that have no wrinkles or folds, it does very well, and produces a crisp scan with few problems
